Subacromial Bursitis
Subacromial Bursitis is caused by an entrapment of the bursa, which lubricates the supraspinatus tendon. This small sack becomes inflamed and causes pain during over-hand throwing motions.
Symptoms
- Pain and weakness in arm when raised in a 60-degree arc
- Pain when pressure is applied to front of upper arm
Treatment
- Rest and heat
- Continue to move the shoulder joint to maintain mobility
- Anti-inflammatory medication when necessary
- Surgery to aspirate the bursa
